Begin with a requirements package that identifies the host assembly, drawing and model precedence, revision, critical characteristics, material, finish, annual volume, service environment and regulatory destination. Mark interfaces that cannot change and separate mandatory requirements from supplier design proposals. A sample part can assist review but cannot replace hidden dimensions, material condition or acceptance criteria.
Choose casting, forging, machining, stamping or fabrication by geometry, properties, volume and validation burden. Use ISO 1101 for functional geometric controls, ISO 1302 for surface texture and the relevant material/process standard. Request only inspection records tied to actual risk: material evidence, first article, capability data, nondestructive examination or traceability as specified.
Approve tooling and prototypes against the same controlled revision intended for production. Define deviation approval, configuration identification, preservation, packaging and notification before changes to material, tooling, process, production location or sub-tier source. Installation and service instructions remain part of the finished OEM requirement whenever misuse or incorrect orientation is foreseeable.
