Describe the required function first
A support schedule should say more than “pipe clamp.” Use these questions to clarify the requirement with the project designer before matching a product.

Eaton distinguishes its slide assemblies from its alignment guides: slides accommodate horizontal movement, while the cited guide family directs thermal movement and requires separate pipe-load support. That distinction is a useful reason to state function explicitly; its product instructions remain specific to Eaton. Read the manufacturer explanation.
Check the whole support path
Prepare a list from the pipe contact point to the structure: pipe support, mating fasteners, rod or framing, and structural attachment. For each connection, identify the drawing or approved part that defines the interface. Use the strut compatibility checklist for a channel-mounted arrangement and the beam clamp checklist for a flange attachment.
Make insulation an explicit line in the RFQ
Eaton’s insulation-shield range illustrates that insulation protection is a separate product-selection decision. Include the approved insulation-support detail rather than assuming any clamp around an insulated pipe is suitable. See the manufacturer’s insulation-protection explanation.
For quotation review, ask who supplies the shield or insert, which dimensions govern fit, and whether the complete assembly is included. This is a purchasing checklist, not a substitute for specifying the thermal or structural performance of an insert.
Separate known values from open questions
Use columns for support tag, service, pipe dimension, insulation, mounting arrangement, required movement, finish, quantity and outstanding documents. Give every open question an owner. A missing movement requirement should be returned for clarification, not treated as zero movement.
