Break the assembly into purchasing decisions

Use a support tag to keep the package together
Give each assembly a support tag that connects its drawing to the bill of materials. List the quantity of each component and identify who supplies rods, nuts, brackets or other mating parts. Mark whether the schedule covers a complete support or selected components only.

Keep project design decisions with the project team
Ask the responsible designer to define required loads, movement, support locations and any approval obligations. The purchasing schedule should carry those requirements, not invent them. Fire-protection, seismic or other regulated applications require their specific design and product acceptance route.

Choose a sourcing route

Before requesting a package price, use the RFQ checklist to identify quantities, included components, finish and required documents. Ask that every proposed substitution be returned against the original support tag.
